How much time does membership Take?
Central Coast Zonta meets once a month, usually over dinner at Terrigal. Zonta is a voluntary organisation, and members choose to help with projects, events or committees depending on their availability. Members have commented they find it more rewarding the more they get involved, however the group culture is to ask for volunteers and there is no judgement with availability. We understand the ebbs and flows of life.
What kind of people join Zonta?
Can I attend a meeting before deciding?
Absolutely, actually we’d prefer if you do. Our meetings are once a month in the evening at Terrigal. We often have dinner and a guest speaker. You can attend a few meetings to get the feel of the group and see if its a good fit for you.
We also do monthly coffee catch ups, if you’d prefer a more casual setting and get to know people. They are often mid week around 10am. We go to difference cafes around the Central Coast.
What does Central Coast Zonta do?
Throughout the year, Zonta Club of Central Coast hosts and/or supports a range of events, including advocacy initiatives (we are the voice for those that cannot speak), service projects where we source personal care items, clothing, and starting over kits for local women’s refuges. We invest in young local women to finish their education via our study grants and co-ordinate birthing kit packing days to assist our international projects
Our Central Coast members come from a wide range of professional and community backgrounds. Many have had impressive careers and bring valuable experience and wisdom to the club. We have a members that has worked for the United Nations, another that has written over a 100 published books, one that has lectured doctors at University, and another that has run a multi million dollar company. At the same time, we are always keen to welcome young members who bring fresh ideas, digital skills and new energy to help shape the future of Zonta.
What do I do next?
Contact us via our contact page. We will put you in touch with a member and organise a catch up.
Alternatively we have an upcoming event for new potential members. The ADD YOUR VOICE EVENT, is a casual event at Aromas Terrigal, where we can have a wine/coffee and 3 members will discuss what they do in Zonta and they biggest impact they have seen since being involved.
Do I need special qualifications to join Zonta?
Not at all. Zonta welcomes people who care about making a difference for women and girls and who enjoy working with others in the community.
Some in our group call themselves the “worker bees” they enjoy being behind the scenes and getting things done. Others bring great organisation skills, while others can tap into their community resources and past experiences.
Every little bit helps to build a better world for women and girls.
How much does membership cost?
There is an annual membership fee which supports the work of the club, district and Zonta International. Some meetings or events may also have a small cost but you are always told up front.
I’m not ready to join, but I want to support Zonta.
We have a number of fund raising events that you are welcome to attend. We also do a quarterly newsletter that updates subscribers on the work we are doing locally and internationally. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram too.
