Together, there are many ways to help us improve the lives of women and girls on the Central Coast and internationally.
Zonta Central Coast Inc, is part of Zonta International, a worldwide organisation with more than 29,000 members in 62 countries.
Zonta has three key focus areas: YES to gender equality. NO to Domestic Violence, NOW to gender-equal climate justice.
Zonta Central Coast Members meet on the second Tuesday of each month (except December and January) at the Terrigal Bowling Club for a dinner meeting and guest speaker.
YOU choose the involvement you have in different projects. Depending on your skill set and time available. As a member, you do not need to join a committee; however, most members say that they get the most enjoyment out of Zonta Central Coast by being part of a committee. Some members like to ease into it, others like to jump feet first. You can always put your hand up if help is needed
( Maybe you’re a gun on the griddle and can help at the Bunnings Fundraising BBQ, or super quick to help at the birthing kits packing day)
The Advancement of Women Committee aims to help local young women with Study Grants and scholarships. They seek to sponsor and support the achievement of local women. This involves connecting with local schools and young women’s organisations to find out where they need support and help.
The Advocacy Committee participates in community initiatives related to issues that impact women. Especially those that relate to women’s rights and human rights. We are the voice for those who cannot speak. Central Coast Zonta participates in the Central Coast Domestic Violence Committee and builds a working relationship with local decision makers and members of parliament to voice their concerns and offer practical support. We aim to raise awareness of Domestic violence on the Central Coast.
The Service Committee are the team that deliver goods on Zonta’s behalf. It may be purchasing and delivering personal car kits and start up kits to women’s refuges on the Central Coast. It may be packing Christmas gifts or birthing kits. As well as many other practical projects.
Fundraising Committee. We can’t exist without funds! Our fundraising committee organizes fun fundraising events to raise money for Zonta Central Coast. This will also involve source prizes and seeking donations. Then, attending the event, selling raffle tickets, and ensuring financial goals are met.
You’ll find most Zonta Central Coast members are or have been professional women in the workplace. Teachers, Medical Professionals, Businesswomen, or in Public Sector management. The “Zonta Spirit” is one of fostering a culture of care, kindness, and respect.
