WHAT WE DO

Zonta seeks to advance the health, education, equity and legal status of women and girls both internationally and on the Central Coast.

We achieve our goals through projects and activities which support survivors of domestic violence, education programs and health initiatives.

Our Committees for the Advancement of Women, Advocacy, Service, Fundraising and Membership enable members and Friends of Zonta to participate in projects related to their special interests.

Service

Zonta Club of Central Coast service projects provide financial and in-kind support, especially to survivors of domestic violence.

Examples include clothing for mothers and children, personal care kits for women in refuges, and home start-up kits for families starting again.

Advocacy

We undertake advocacy work especially related to the advancement of women and girls. We promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Zonta Club of Central Coast advocacy activities include participation in International Women’s Day and 16 Days of Activism against Domestic Violence.

Older women are at increasing risk of homelessness and this cohort is a new focus for our advocacy activities.

Advancement of Women

Tertiary education is the key to women achieving their potential and gender equality. We provide study grants to students on the Central Coast so that they can complete their high school education, and provide pathways to higher education.

Study grants recipients include female students in their final HSC year, NAISDA (National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association) girls undertaking dance training, mothers returning to education and young women entering tertiary fields.

FUNdraising

Zonta Club of Central Coast is famous for FUN fundraising events. Think themed balls, trivia nights, fashion parades, movie nights.

Without effective fundraising, our efforts to support women and girls both locally and internationally to achieve their goals and potential would be severely limited.

Local Partnerships

Working collaboratively with other organisations sharing similar goals can only improve outcomes for women.

Locally we work with Coast Shelter, International Women’s Day Committee, Elderslee Foundation, Shoebox Revolution, We Care Connect, Action on Housing for Older Women and many other service organisations.

We are fortunate also to have strong supporters in the business community, such as Central Coast Council and Colgate Australia who recognise the importance of the work of Zonta Club of Central Coast.
